Job Summary

The Accounting Manager supports the maintenance and administration of all accounting systems and records. The Manager assists in the development of accounting policies and procedures, participates in maintaining the organization’s systems and records, and participates or assists in the annual budget preparation. This position oversees accounts payable, grants, accounts receivable, general ledger, cost allocation and cash flow for CHC. This position performs a strategic and hands-on role responsible for contributing to the oversight of the financial operations within Community Health Center of Snohomish County. This position contributes to the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of financial reporting and accounting processes, while maintaining compliance with nonprofit regulations and internal policies. The Accounting Manager assists with communication to multiple departments—including Payroll, Purchasing, Revenue Cycle, Human Resources, as well as clinical operations to assist with facilitating collaboration to support organizational support and fiscal responsibility. This position provides management and supervision to designated staff.

  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications: Word, Teams and Outlook.
  • Highly skilled in Microsoft Excel.

Education

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or in lieu of degree, a combination of equivalent education and work experience.

Preferred:

  • Masters Degree in Accounting

Experience

  • Accounting experience (3 years).
  • Supervisory/management experience at the team level (2 years).
  • Understanding and practical use of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Familiarity with automated accounting systems.

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with community health centers, primary care practices, or other healthcare settings.
  • Not-for-profit accounting experience.
  • Familiarity with the accounting and billing of federal grants
  • Financial analysis experience.
  • Experience with Sage Intaact.
  • Experience with UKG Pro.

Credentials

Preferred:

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).

  • Maintains accurate and complete accounting records in accordance with CHC’s policies and procedures, and in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and regulatory agencies. Execution of daily accounting tasks, departmental support, and financial integrity.
  • Ensures compliance with CHC’s established internal controls and reviews processes to ensure adequate segregation of duties and internal control environment. Prepares internal financial reports and variance analysis, including month-end and year-end reports.
  • Oversees month-end and year-end close and the reconciliation of all accounts.
  • Reviews all payroll tax reports, W-2’s, 1099’s, workers compensation, gross receipts tax returns, property taxes and all other federal, state and local taxes in connection with payroll and CHC business.
  • Supervises accounting team and promotes process improvements.
  • Assists in the development of accounting policies and procedures, identifies workflow enhancements and supports system integration.
  • Acts as liaison across departments to ensure financial accuracy and support.
  • Assists in preparation of IRS Form 990 and related schedules.
  • Performs financial analysis, projections and special projects as assigned.
  • Prepares audit schedules and works with auditors to complete various periodic audits. Audits include but not limited to: Annual organizational financial audits, single audits, 403(b) audits, regulatory audits, and grant-related audits.
  • Supports organizational and departmental budget development and monitoring.
  • Responds to requests for information from other departments within the agency.
  • Maintains and manages CHC’s General Ledger and subsidiary ledgers
  • Participates in annual regulatory reporting, including but not limited to Medicare and Medicaid Cost Report, Uniform Data System (“UDS” report), Financial Status Report (“FSR”) and other State and Federal reports as required.
  • Ensures compliance with CHC cash handling policies, including but not limited to regular audits of clinic and pharmacy cash boxes and petty cash.
  • Coordinates and oversees grant invoicing, monitoring and reconciliations.
  • Adheres to attendance standards in order to perform the job functions for daily operations and/or continuity of patient care.
