ABOUT THE ROLE

The Chemical Production Manager will play a critical leadership role within the operations team, overseeing daily production activities and leading a team of supervisors and technical staff. This position is responsible for maintaining steady and consistent plant operations while fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will bring a systems-focused mindset and a strong foundation in engineering and process optimization.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead, coach, and develop production team members, providing timely feedback and holding them accountable.

  • Own and optimize the production process to ensure consistent and efficient operations.

  • Utilize key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify and drive improvement opportunities.

  • Develop and manage production budgets, reporting any significant variances.

  • Promote a proactive, solutions-oriented culture focused on continuous improvement.

  • Oversee the operator training and qualification process.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert in root cause failure analysis (RCFA).

  • Ensure the effective use and development of standard operating procedures (SOPs).

  • Manage vendor and contractor qualifications to maintain high-quality production standards.

  • Support the plant's shutdown activities and change management processes.

  • Ensure compliance with all safety, health, and environmental regulations.

  • Conduct performance reviews, manage schedules, and participate in hiring decisions.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally to align production strategies with organizational goals.

  • Provide operational support as needed and assist with special projects assigned by leadership.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical Engineering preferred) from an accredited institution.

  • 3 5 years of experience in a leadership role within a large-scale, continuous process manufacturing environment.

  • Experience with process equipment such as evaporators, centrifuges, heat exchangers, boilers, and similar systems.

  • Strong background in reliability principles, production management, and continuous improvement.

  • Demonstrated experience in managing production budgets and performance metrics.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong organizational and analytical skills.

  • Effective communication and delegation abilities.

  • Knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations is preferred.

  • Physical ability to work around industrial equipment, ascend ladders, and wear required PPE.

  • Must have legal authorization to work in the U.S. not based on student or third-party-sponsored visa.
