Under the general direction of the Chief Psychiatrist, Correctional Facility (Safety) of Integrated Gender Affirming Healthcare Program (IGAHP), in the Statewide Mental Health Program (SMHP), the Senior Psychiatrist, Correctional Facility (Specialist) serves as a statewide subject matter (SME) expert in gender-affirming mental health (MH) care who will have psychiatric clinical responsibilities, contribute to quality management, participate in the education of other staff members, and serve as a cross-discipline liaison and collaborator to assist institutions in delivering optimized gender-affirming health care within IGAHP. The Senior Psychiatrist, Specialist will also author, review, and consult on Transgender, Respect, Agency, and Digniaty Act (TRADA) MH evaluations for gender-based housing requests, MH gender-affirming surgery (GAS) evaluations, and Gender Dysphoria evaluations. The Senior Psychiatrist, specialist will work closely with Psychiatry, Psychology, Clinical Social Work, Nursing, Medical, Administrative, Custody (including PREA staff, DAI/FOPS), and Supervisory/Managerial colleagues as an integral member to develop solutions to complex problems involving gender-affirming care. for the transgender and gender diverse (TGD) population within CDCR. Statewide travel and travel into correctional facilities is required.
