Job Description



We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Senior Traffic Engineer with a focus on Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and traffic signal design to join our growing transportation engineering team. This role involves planning, designing, and implementing traffic signal systems and ITS infrastructure to improve mobility, safety, and efficiency across urban and suburban networks. Hybrid work option located in Atlanta, GA.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and review traffic signal design plans, including signal timing, phasing, and interconnects.
  • Design and implement ITS solutions such as CCTV, DMS, vehicle detection, and communication systems.
  • Prepare construction documents, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Conduct traffic operational analyses using software such as Synchro, VISSIM, or HCS.
  • Coordinate with DOTs, municipalities, and utility companies.
  • Support project management tasks including scheduling, budgeting, and client communication.
  • Perform field reviews and inspections to ensure design compliance and quality control.

 

Qualifications



Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
  • 6 years of experience in traffic engineering, with a focus on signal design and ITS or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

Preferred Requirements: 

  • EIT certification or PE license preferred or ability to obtain within 12 months.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, MicroStation, and traffic analysis tools (e.g., Synchro, SIDRA).
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
