STATE PARK INTERPRETER I (PERMANENT INTERMITTENT) – CENTRAL VALLEY DISTRICT / INTERPRETATION AND EDUCATION / CALAVERAS BIG TREES STATE PARK
The reporting location for this position is Calaveras Big Trees State Park in Arnold, CA. This position will work under the direction of State Park Interpreter III.
The State Park Interpreter I (PI) will coordinate the K-12 Access program which engages students and teachers in learning about the park. The position includes both front line interpretive work as well as office-based duties such as planning, research and development of interpretive projects and programs. Duties include implementation of the Parks Online Resources for Teachers and Students (PORTS) Program, digital media and content development, and delivery of distance learning presentations for the public with a focus on the K-12 community. Additionally, the position will be responsible for working closely with all staff and volunteers in the park to accomplish the tasks necessary to operate, protect, interpret and maintain the park to the highest quality standards. This includes implementing interpretive programs (onsite school visits, Junior Rangers, guided walks, campfire program) with a focus on giant sequoia tree interpretation. The position may serve as a lead for seasonal aides, interns and volunteers.
Training and Development Assignments may be considered.

The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.
This position may work up to 1500 hours in any calendar year.
