Veterinary Assistant - Airport Animal Hospital in Duluth, MN is accepting applications for employment as a Veterinary Assistant. Airport Animal Hospital is a very busy canine and feline companion animal veterinary hospital serving the Duluth & Hermantown area of northeastern Minnesota for over 40 years. Our hours of operation are 7:30 a.m-5:30 p.m. Monday thru Friday. Our current team includes 6 DVMs, 2 receptionists, and 10 veterinary technicians and assistants. We strive to work in a very collaborative way to maximize success as a team for the good of our patients, our clients, and each other. The responsibilities of a Veterinary Assistant centers around assisting our DVMs in efficiently completing their daily appointment schedules. Specific tasks include warmly greeting and serving clients & patients, documenting a thorough patient history and assisting the DVMs in building an accurate medical record entry, restraining patients for physical exams and minor treatments, preparing and processing invoices, preparing and cleaning exam rooms and hospital equipment as needed, accurately fill prescriptions, assisting with education and accurately relaying patient care recommendations & directions to their family members. Key skills and attributes critical for success in this work include: A dedicated work ethic and high level of reliability High personal integrity and trustworthiness Excellent social & communication skills with high emotional intelligence An ability to work well with coworkers to help maximize the functionality of our team A strong desire to provide compassionate, high-quality care to patients and a high-quality customer service experience to clients An ability to learn & effectively use a Windows based veterinary practice information and management software program. Starting wage earned will be commensurate with relevant work experience as well as knowledge base and skill level; typically $17-20 per hour.
