Job Title: Nuclear Plant Integration Engineer
Location: Bellevue, WA

Type: Contract
Compensation: $84 - $110 hourly
Contractor Work Model: Remote

System One is seeking a Plant Integration Engineer for a 12-month remote contract position supporting a client in the nuclear energy sector. This role supports the integration, oversight, and coordination of nuclear island plant design activities with ongoing licensing and configuration management efforts. The position reports to the client’s Plant Design Products or Plant Design Programs leadership and involves close collaboration with a multidisciplinary engineering team across locations.

The successful candidate will provide both technical and administrative design and regulatory support, working alongside professionals in design engineering, licensing, safety analysis, and probabilistic risk assessment (PRA). This role is essential in developing plans, strategies, and deliverables to support plant-level integration and design.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate remotely with geographically distributed teams and partner organizations to develop nuclear island plant integration deliverables.

  • Support integration activities across licensing, safety analysis, PRA, and other engineering disciplines.

  • Develop plant-level integration design deliverables, including plans, strategies, discipline design documents, plant-level design basis documents, and supporting processes.

  • Coordinate and support cross-functional efforts for ongoing design, licensing, and configuration management activities.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in nuclear, chemical, mechanical, or electrical engineering (or equivalent experience, such as a Senior Reactor Operator license).

  • Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in nuclear facility design or operations, with experience in one or more of the following areas:

    • Plant or systems engineering

    • Design engineering

    • Fire protection

    • Operations

    • Reactor engineering

  • Working knowledge of NRC regulations and guidance documents; prior experience interfacing with the NRC is a plus.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and take initiative in solving complex integration challenges in a remote setting.

  • Strong leadership and collaboration skills, with the ability to drive coordination among design, licensing, safety, and PRA teams.

  • Familiarity with quality standards applicable to design activities, such as ASME NQA-1 or ISO 9001.

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, first-of-a-kind (FOAK) design environment and applying sound engineering judgment.

  • Strong organizational and communication skills to effectively convey information across remote teams and stakeholders.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to operate effectively in a fully remote, multi-disciplinary environment.
