Requirements
• MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
• Active and unrestricted license to practice medicine in Washington State
• Board certification or eligibility in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or equivalent specialty
• Valid DEA registration and NPI number
• Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience (preferably in correctional, public health, or primary care settings)
• Familiarity with NCCHC standards and relevant Washington State healthcare regulations
• Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and treatment skills
• Ability to pass a comprehensive background check and drug screening
• Current CPR/BLS certification (AHA-approved)
Responsibilities
• Deliver primary and urgent medical care to individuals in custody.
• Conduct intake physicals, manage chronic illnesses, and perform follow-up assessments.
• Respond to medical emergencies and acute care situations promptly.
• Prescribe medications and oversee medication management protocols.
• Collaborate with nurses, physician assistants, mental health professionals, and custody staff.
• Document all clinical encounters accurately and promptly in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
• Participate in mortality reviews, quality improvement efforts, and clinical case reviews.
• Ensure compliance with NCCHC standards and all applicable local, state, and federal healthcare regulations.
• Support infection control initiatives, detoxification monitoring, and chronic care coordination.
